The narrative genre I chose to analyze is a Total Sorority Move column. The purpose of this article is to tell a story from a sorority girl's point of view that other sorority girls would likely relate to or find entertaining and funny. The audience is aimed at college sorority girls. The author uses personal anecdotes to narrate times that she has cried and wasn't asking for attention. She uses pathos so the audience can feel sympathy and relate to her argument that when a girl cries it is not always to get attention. The media is an online column that can be shared on multiple social media networks. The mode is digital and text based. The article is short in length and written in colloquial language. The author's voice and personality is easily seen in the tone of the article. This article could be easily adapted into a podcast read from the voice of the author. This would make the argument more effective as it would bring the words to life and give an authentic voice to the author.
