Often times people rush to theatres when they see a book they have read has been made into a movie. Sometimes people are left disappointed when the film is not how they hoped it would be. An example of a movie that I think is better than the book is The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. Director Nick Cassavetes brings the romantic novel to life in 2004 with the production of the film version of The Notebook. In my opinion, the movie version is much better than the book. The movie is better because it is well-casted, accurately portrays the time and setting, and effectively uses film techniques and background music. The movie follows the plot of the book fairly well, but watching the movie is much more enjoyable than reading the book. It stars the talented and beautiful Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. These actors do a fantastic job of portraying their love for one another and developing their specific character traits. The music, costume choices, and camera angles provide a clear setting for the movie. The actors make Allie and Noah's love come alive as you can visually see them interact with one another. Film allows us to see the character's facial expressions and hear them talking.
