Twitter Movie Report

After analyzing our classmate’s favorite movies, we found that comedy is the genre that stands out the most. Comedy is appealing to people our age because it is enjoyable to watch and people like movies that make them feel good. Other than comedy, two other common genres that we found were romance and action. None of these genres seemed to stand alone, and there were many movies with combined genres like romantic comedies or action comedies. When talking about the movie Zombieland, one twitter user said, “I love that it combines goofy humor with horror” (@Micah_Gore). Most of the movies were released between 2000 and 2010, this could be explained by the fact that most people watch and enjoy movies growing up tying pleasant memories to the film. There seems to be a wide range in the actors and directors of these films, but many of them are still well-known. There were only one or two movies that we had never heard of as many of the movies people liked were popular and successful. These observations show us that the students in our ENC2135 class generally like popular movies with an emphasis on comedy.
