My Pop Culture Obsession

My current pop culture obsession is comedy films; particularly those starring a Franco brother or Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, and Channing Tatum. Over winter break I went to see the movie "Why Him" with one of my good friends and his grandpa. In the film, James Franco stars as a young and very eccentric billionaire app producer who makes many attempts to get his girlfriend's father's blessing. I loved the movie and would definitely go see it again. I think what made the movie so enjoyable was that it maintained its raw humor and kept the audience laughing the entire time. I'm sure many people would enjoy this film as the jokes appealed to a younger audience, like my friend and I as well as an older audience, like his grandpa. When I'm asked what kind of movie I'd like to watch I almost always choose comedy because I love to laugh and these sorts of movies always put me in a good mood. Some of my favorite comedy movies include: "21 Jump Street", "22 Jump Street", "17 Again" and "Neighbors". Something that I've found through watching movies is that the actor who stars in the movie does not determine its success. I remember a couple years ago being very excited to see the movie "We Are Your Friends" because Zac Efron starred in it. However, this movie was probably one of the worst I've ever seen because although Zac Efron was looking good, the movie didn't have an intriguing plot line, character development, humor, or background music to match its star actor.
